Applications of Organic Peroxides
The following introduces you to applications of organic peroxides. Our products are used to initiate polymerization reactions for production of plastics,
hardening of thermoset composites and improve the properties of plastics and rubbers.
Thermoplastic
many thermoplastics, such as LDPE, PVC, PS, cr-PP, PMMA, etc., need organic or inorganic peroxides as initiators in the production process.
Coatings, dispersions and specialty polymers
Without the presence of various polymers, our daily life would be unthinkable.Applications of organic peroxides include protecting and beautifying surfaces and materials with special properties.
Composite/thermosetting materials
thermosetting resin is a prepolymer that irreversibly changes into a permeable, insoluble polymer network by curing. Curing can be achieved by energy and/or the action of organic peroxides.
Cross-linking
many requirements of polymer materials can only be achieved by cross-linking of polymer chains. These crosslinks can optimize parameters such as elasticity, durability or chemical resistance. Organic peroxides are the main means to affect these characteristics.
Beyond polymers
persulfate is widely used, including medical applications (denture cleaners and disinfection), hair bleaching, high-quality microelectronic circuit boards and unconventional oil extraction. In addition to polymers, we also provide solutions for various persulfates and their formulations.
BPO Curing
Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO) can be used as an initiator for polyester thermoset resins, as an alternative to methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP). For instance, PMMA resins and vinyl-esters can be polymerized with benzoyl peroxide.
Engineered Stone
Engineered stone is a composite material made of crushed stone bound together by a polyester resin. For engineered marbles the most common application is indoor floorings and kitchen countertops.
Open Mold
Open mold processes include spray-up and hand lay-up. This method is used to produce boats, bathtubs and other composite products.
Polymer Concrete
In polymer concrete typically thermosetting resins are used as the principal polymer component. Polymer concrete is also composed of aggregates that include silica, quartz, granite, limestone.
Pultrusion
Pultrusion is a continuous process where glass roving is “pulled” through a heated die creating a profile shape. Pultruded products are tubing and sheets and typically applied in the construction market.
SMC/BMC
SMC and BMC are press methods where a combination of high pressure and high temperature are applied until curing occurs. Typical applications include automotive and electrical applications.
Pipes and Tubes
For the production of pipes and tubes two main production methods exist:filament winding and centrifugal casting.
